Even during the pandemic-induced supply chain constraints, when most players were struggling to serve their clientele efficiently, Dresser Utility Solutions continued their journey toward excellence, improving upon supply chain delivery times, enabling clients to maintain operation schedules.

Dresser’s broad solution portfolio comprises robust and reliable metering, electronics, instrumentation, flow control, distribution repair products, and overpressure protection devices. Among these, the Dresser Gas Measurement solution suite, encompassing rotary meters, pressure reduction skids, and the new MC3 electronic volume correctors (EVC) and monitoring product line, is acclaimed for effectively streamlining gas utility operations. The latest iteration from the legacy line—MC2—sets the bar high for low-maintenance equipment.

Dresser recognizes that most utility companies are embarking on a digital transformation journey, which makes remote monitoring and asset maintenance essential.

Staying true to this mission, Dresser developed a suite of electronics that can connect and communicate with meters and client back-office systems while ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory requirements. These proprietary innovations, including electronic indexes, as well as temperature and volume correction accessories, are the byword for accuracy and reliability.

The EVC suite, comprising MC3 Nexus and MC3 Guardian, is designed to provide better ways to manage and safeguard assets. MC3 Nexus offers a novel way to access measurement information. Purpose-built for gas distribution companies, it is a unique blend of functionality, communications, and intuitive feature sets to facilitate ease of use.

MC3 Nexus is complemented by MC3 Guardian, developed to quadruple the efficiency of meters. It continuously monitors for measurement abnormalities and provides instant notification of irregularities, eliminating the need for periodic in-person meter wellness checks.

Dresser Utility Solutions’ metering product line is known for its longevity. It prioritizes developing products that last for at least two to three decades without losing accuracy. These products also require less maintenance.

This multi-faceted product line comes in various models to meet diverse client requirements. The firm also has created many SKUs and product configurations for different customers.

Innovation in Its DNA

Since inception, Dresser has used client feedback as the guiding light for a product roadmap.

Dresser’s first pipe coupling patent, in 1886, changed the face of how pipeline infrastructure was built across the U.S. Recently introducing new transition fittings, manufactured differently from other competitors to boost operability and ease of use, Dresser Utility Solutions continues to innovate today.

On the rotary meter side, Dresser’s product, developed in the 1920s, remains the most prominent commercial, industrial gas measurement technology even today. It has undergone continuous evolution, keeping pace with industry trends and needs.

Dresser typically engages with clients on multi-year contracts for metering equipment change-out programs, allowing them to gain a comprehensive understanding of diverse client requirements and address them within a quick turnaround time.

For example, they recently collaborated with some of the biggest names in the North American utility arena and developed a smaller yet effective rotary meter to replace diaphragm meters. The new meter features advanced electronics and communication capabilities, making it easier for utilities to manage assets in the field.

Building on its proven history of delivering high-quality products, Dresser Utility Solutions is helping utilities pivot toward sustainability, by augmenting the capabilities of their meters and making them compatible with 40 percent hydrogen blend gas, supporting low-carbon projects worldwide.

Dresser Utility Solutions continues to develop technologies that can be retrofitted to extend the life of existing systems. Going forward, the Company will expand into electronic platforms that facilitate seamless communication between utility assets and back-office systems. The latest generation of Dresser’s electronic solution, gearing up for rollout,also houses diagnostic tools to give better insights into equipment operations and is gearing up for rollout.

Given the current market demand for smaller meters, Dresser is looking to scale their production to meet market needs, which includes preparation to expand their footprint in the European market.

Through the recent acquisition of Total Piping Solutions (TPS), Dresser Utility Solutions is looking to break new ground in the water and wastewater management space. These plans reinforce Dresser’s commitment to help utilities optimize their operations and enable them to better meet their sustainability goals.
