Battery Storage

Thermal storage concerns the capture and release of heat or cold in a solid, liquid, or air, besides potential changes in the storage medium's state, for instance, from gas to liquid or solid to liquid and vice versa.
Energy storage technologies include molten salt, liquid air, and cryogenic storage. With concentrated solar power, molten salt has turned into a commercially viable heat storage option. Yet, this and other heat storage options may be restricted by the requirement for large underground storage caverns.
