The Honest Water Filter Company has been recognized by Utilities Business Review Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Whole House Water Filtration Systems of the Year 2025,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry. This profile has been developed by the Utilities Business Review research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Eric Brockmire, President and CEO.
Eric Brockmire, President and CEOWhile over 90 percent of the U.S. population relies on public water systems regulated under the Safe Drinking Water Act, the reality tells a more nuanced story. Residual disinfectants—normally chlorine-based—along with trace levels of heavy metals and chemical byproducts in tap water—have raised valid concerns about long-term water quality. This growing skepticism has led many households to seek alternatives, including bottled water and in-home filtration systems.
The Honest Water Filter Company (HWF) is stepping in to address that shift with transparency and integrity.
HWF initially developed commercial-grade filtration systems to meet the rigorous demands of the food service industry. Now, it is refining them for residential use, offering homeowners a durable, high-performance solution backed by industry standards.
“Water is the closest thing we have to an elixir of life—essential for health, comfort, and peace of mind. Protecting its purity demands a commitment to truth and performance and we take that responsibility seriously,” says Eric Brockmire, President and CEO.
Every HWF filter is certified for performance by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), the gold standard for water filtration testing. Product claims can be verified publicly, offering homeowners transparency and confidence in what’s flowing from their taps.
“That matters more than most realize,” adds John Phipps, VP of marketing. “Many systems claim to remove chlorine, yet they rarely pursue performance certifications that offer peace of mind not only to the homeowner but also to the company providing and installing the product. We’re focused on delivering certified protection—not assumptions.”
As more Americans question what’s in their water, HWF answers them with science, certification, and a commitment to clean water without compromise.
Engineered for What Matters—Performance, Purity and Protection
Not all filters are built the same and HWF doesn’t aim for average. Its cartridge-based filtration systems trap and hold contaminants rather than flushing them through the system. The standard configuration filters particles down to 5 microns, effectively addressing point-of-entry (POE). Additional protection can be found in their point-of-use (POU) product, which filters contaminants down to 0.2 microns, which can consist of microplastics and cysts. This offers protection that most suppliers can’t match.
The premium Diamond/Silver Ultra-Filter takes protection even further. It captures particulates down to 0.015 microns and features a dual-cartridge setup to reduce chlorine. Unlike conventional systems that alter water chemistry and risk long-term pipe corrosion, this system maintains a stable pH, preserving water quality and plumbing infrastructure.
The Ultra-Filter installation is designed for simplicity, using an essential in-and-out connection with a drain and a 24-volt electrical component. All other HWF models operate on static filtration—requiring no electricity, drain, or moving parts. As water flows through, it’s filtered automatically with no waste, turning every faucet into a point of protection.
HWF also integrates polyphosphates, an FDA- and EPA-approved technology used in commercial applications for over 80 years. These compounds act as a salt-free soft water alternative, preventing scale formation rather than removing minerals entirely—offering plumbing protection without the environmental downsides of traditional softeners.
Durability is another hallmark of HWF’s design. Its proprietary activated carbon block, engineered through a high-precision micro-dusting process, is certified under NSF/ANSI standards 42 and 53 (depending on the system), removing chlorine with 96.5 percent efficiency from up to 265,000 gallons per cartridge.
“If it’s good enough for national restaurant brands that serve millions of customers daily, it’s good enough for homeowners. Consumers deserve the same level of quality in their tap water,” says Brockmire.
The modular design—the first of its kind—functions like LEGO bricks and is customizable for any gallon-per-minute requirement. Whether for a single-family home or a multi-unit property, HWF delivers performance that adjusts to the structure, not the other way around.
HWF mounts to the wall, freeing up space in garages and utility rooms—an important consideration in today’s housing market, where every square foot matters.
That flexibility comes with an environmentally responsible footprint. Most HWF systems require no backwashing, eliminating water waste. Even the premium unit, which self-cleans, uses less than three gallons per day, in dramatic contrast to the 60 to 187 gallons consumed by conventional softeners or backwashing systems.
No Fine Print, Just Clean Water
Peace of mind is the natural result when transparency and integrity guide one’s actions. For HWF, that assurance begins at installation and continues long after.
Every system includes a one-year replacement warranty. If a unit fails within the first year, HWF replaces it without paperwork or delays.
“Honestly, if someone asked for their money back, I’d do it. But in most cases, we send a new system. That first year builds trust,” adds Brockmire.
Beyond the first year, HWF offers a lifetime, transferable warranty on every manifold—the component that houses the filter and directs water. If the home is sold, the coverage automatically transfers.
Then there’s the Act of God warranty, an unmatched industry promise. If a system is destroyed in a natural disaster—fire, flood, hurricane—HWF replaces it at no cost. After hurricanes hit Florida, HWF replaced over 30 systems, with contractors often volunteering their labor to reinstall them, easing the burden for affected homeowners.
That same commitment extends to the plumbing professionals who install HWF systems.
HWF’s dealer network spans 38 states and includes over 200 plumbing contractors, from single-truck operations to large fleets. Size doesn’t matter—shared values do.
Marketing assistance, product training, and a mobile app with an industry-first SOS button are also provided to support contractors. Installations are reviewed for accuracy, reducing callbacks and reinforcing customer confidence.
Driving Real Business Growth, Earning Rave Reviews
When a product delivers results, word spreads quickly and so does adoption. Thanks to HWF, water treatment has evolved from a value-added service to a major revenue driver for many plumbing professionals.
“I’ve been thoroughly impressed with HWF and their exceptional water treatment solutions,” says one contractor. “In just a few years, water treatment has grown to over 20 percent of our plumbing department’s total sales, a true testament to the quality and effectiveness of their products.”
Customers are taking note, too. Feedback across residential and commercial properties highlights cleaner, healthier water with improved taste and clarity.
Positive feedback also comes from those installing the systems.
“Our plumbing technicians consistently tell me these are the best systems they’ve ever worked with. Easy to install, reliable, and delivering real, lasting results,” says Brockmire.
Built by a Plumber, for Plumbers, with Purpose and Pride
HWF was launched on a day most businesses would call unlucky—March 20, 2020, the day the country went on a national lockdown for COVID-19. The official debut became a test of conviction.
Just four-and-a-half years later, HWF experienced tremendous growth and became the fastest-growing dealer network in the country. More importantly, HWF has helped its dealer partners generate over $30 million in combined revenue—a testament to its market approach.
“We built this as an add-on sale, not a hard sell. Plumbers are great at fixing things, but we’ve helped them start fixing the cause of those problems—water. That changes everything,” says Phipps.
By shifting the conversation toward water quality, HWF empowers plumbing professionals to see water as both a utility and a key factor in a home’s health. Clean water protects plumbing systems while improving what families drink every day. That dual benefit—durability and well-being—sits at the core of every system installed.
And behind it all is a founder who hasn’t forgotten his roots.
“I created this company as a plumber first, to help other plumbers,” Brockmire says. “This is the first water filtration company designed to give back to the industry that served me so well. We don’t sell online. We don’t post pricing. We let our customers—the plumbers—earn the profit they deserve.”
That philosophy—by a plumber, for plumbers—sparked a movement in water filtration, guiding the company to build honest, certified, and durable solutions.
